Brintons at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

The multiple award winning Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is simply breathtaking. From the intricate design touches noticeable on every level, through to the stunning views of the Sydney Opera House; it’s no wonder this venue took out the Five Star Award in Commercial Renovation category at the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2015.

Along with wins in three major categories at the 2015 Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW Awards for Excellence, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney took home the award for Redeveloped Hotel of the Year.

Brintons worked together with Stack Studio to develop designs that reflect the luxury and refinement of a contemporary 5 star hotel, in a fresh and brilliant, yet practical colour palette. Part of the client brief was to help create a connection between the hotel interior and the extraordinary and iconic views of Sydney Harbour.

Over 5000sqm of custom designed Axminster carpet was utilised throughout the corridors, lobby and over 90 of it’s premium guestrooms. Custom designed Hand Tufted rugs were also created for the Presidential Suite and Horizon Lounge, as part of a $9 million refurbishment.

Grace Lei Guo, director of Sydney design firm Stack Studio, based the design of the club lounge, with its magnificent sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, on that of a lighthouse sitting at the head of the harbour foreshore.

“Stack Studio is the interior designer of the Shangri-La Horizon Club. The textile design concept for the project was Blue Blossoms, executed as an elegant and organic design. Stack and Brintons worked closely together on generating the pattern – fine-tuning the design to achieve the best pattern linework, accurate colours and the optimum scale. The result was a custom designed carpet fitting the high standards of design and luxury of a Shangri-La Horizon Club. Brintons produced textiles of the highest quality with fresh colours that are light yet dirt resistant – delivering on practicality as well as superior design.”
