Feisty trio to raise bar in the CBD
Three feisty females will open a million-dollar wine and tapas bar in the heart of Darwin's CBD. Kate Staples, 29, her mum Jennifer Hanlon, 53, and best friend Emily Graham, 29, will open Viva La Vida at the end of Smith St mall on March 16.
Ms Staples said the decision to create an upmarket wine bar was influenced by the changing demographics in Darwin. ``There's a lot of young professionals living in the city and we were the same. We wanted somewhere to go after work,'' she said. ``We looked at restaurants, nightclubs and pubs but this was a clean slate. The concept and the style could be created exactly as we wanted it.''
Although the dress code had not been finalised, there would be no tradie uniforms or steel capped boots.
