New Kings Cross venue pays homage to porn

The gentrification of Kings cross proceeds slowly but it hasn't stopped the owners of LL Wine & Dine from creating a shrine to the area's seedy heritage.

"This used to be an adult bookstore," LL Wine & Dine co-owner Chris Barge says. "We found 35 garbage bags full of vintage porn so we created a porn wall."

This might be a bit too much sizzle for those more accustomed to Florence Broadhurst designs on feature walls but it's a sign of the new generation of edgier hospitality operators joining the strip. An espresso bar - soon to be kitted out with a motorcycle theme - has joined the party on Llankelly Place. Brothers Chris, Matthew and Tim Barge are behind LL Wine & Dine which Chris says takes a variety of design cues.

"It was an illegal casino prior to the adult bookstore," he says.
