Brintons at Ryan’s on the Park

Treasury Brisbane commissioned Brintons to provide Axminster carpet for the refurbishment of the Ryan’s on the Park lobby bar, within the Treasury Hotel. Ryan’s is a small and intimate space, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Overlooking the picturesque Queen’s Park, the bar mainly accommodates the hotel’s guests but is also ideal for corporate meetings, functions and after-work drinks.

Client Brief
Brintons was asked to play a leading role in the creation of a ‘supper club’ where hotel guests can relax and enjoy a late night drink in comfortable and classy surroundings. The property manager aimed to create a space rich in colour and texture, and reminiscent of a traditional hunting lodge or a cigar bar on a grand scale. HASSELL, the appointed interior designer, had a defined creative vision for the space but Brintons’ proven ability to deliver the best design and quality meant it was the perfect partner to implement the brief.

Creative design approach
As the venue was small, it was decided a loud and bold design would be most suitable and the space should be treated holistically and not subjected to the introduction of zoning and visual cues through pattern use. HASSELL proposed the use of a soft and organic traditional damask pattern, while Brintons’ expertise in carpet design and performance meant it was able to suggest suitable colours and customise the design to incorporate specific textured yarns that add to the overall durability of the carpet.

The solution that was delivered
The Brintons design approved by the client features an oversized damask panel that was developed to fit the entire room space at Ryan’s. By recommending the deep chocolate brown colour palette should be complimented with textured yarns, Brintons ensured the design is more serviceable for a busy bar environment. The use of a large damask pattern gives the illusion of an oversized rug spilling across the floor space and helps the space to become a destination.

Brintons delivered a full design and project management service to the client for the Ryan’s on the Park refurbishment. This included colour prints, flood-filled plans, full-scale plots and full-scale samples.
