Food precinct plan revealed
News has been slow to trickle out of the redevelopment of South Wharf, but the owners of Riverland are the first to announce they’ll be part of Melbourne’s newest food and wine precinct, signing a lease on Shed Four, next to the Polly Woodside. Richie Ludbrook and Dave Sharry say their new outdoor cafe and bar will be designed by architect Six Degrees (also responsible for their previous projects, including the Wye River General Store) and be based around an outdoor kiosk with a barbecue to capitalise on the river frontage. Ludbrook describes it as ‘‘Riverland-esque’’, designed to utilise the morning sun on the south bank of the Yarra. ‘‘We’ll be doing breakfast, lunch and dinner but it won’t be a late-night thing; we want to pack up nice and early.’’ They hope to open in October.
