Designer Rugs Introduces the 'Catherine Martin Deco Collection'

Leading Australian manufacturer, Designer Rugs, is proud to announce the launch of the 'Catherine Martin Deco Collection', an exquisite range of hand knotted rugs which will be released this July 2012.

Recently celebrating its 25th anniversary, Designer Rugs has forged an indelible market niche via its collaborations with some of Australia's leading creative talents.

The 'Catherine Martin Deco Collection' is the second range created in collaboration with this Academy Award winning designer and multi-skilled visionary who, on this occasion, has crafted a superb series of five designs, each of which pays homage to the romance of the unique period that is 'Art Deco', while remaining imbued with a fantastical quality of their own that is undeniably the signature of Catherine Martin herself.

"This collection is the confluence of the playfulness and romance of the French Art Deco styles that permeated my childhood and the forward-looking energy of American Art Deco that surrounds me in my second home of New York," said Martin.

"I have been tremendously inspired by living in the Deco metropolis that is New York - a city that surrounds me with monuments that encapsulate the miracle of the modern age. I find it absolutely overwhelming and thrilling to see how 20th Century architects have looked to the future while still referencing the past with intense decoration, creating dynamic, sky-scraping forms. It is this characteristic exuberance that I have fallen in love with and looked to in designing these rugs," said Martin.

The Catherine Martin Deco Collection features four designs at a (standard) size of 2.4 x 3M and a fifth design at 2.4 x 2.4M.

Hand knotted from Tibetan wool and silk, the colour palette - which includes exquisite combinations such as steel blue, amethyst and champagne, alongside dark chocolate, topaz and tobacco - are as subtle as they are sumptuous…evoking both a magical nostalgia and sophisticated modernism in equal measure.

Reflecting its premium positioning, each 'Catherine Martin Deco Collection' Designer Rug is custom made for individual application, where subtle variations in scale and colour can be made at point of order.

Especially appealing, and owing to exclusive relationships with some of the best rug makers in Nepal which have been established by Designer Rugs over two decades, a turn-around time from order to delivery of just 16 weeks exists.

The 'Catherine Martin Deco Collection' from Designer Rugs is priced from $4,320 (2.4M x 2.4M) through to $6,490 (2.4M x 3M).
