Prototype at Nando’s Penrith

With the opening of its first restaurant location in Perth, Western Australia, Nando’s offers an assortment of Afro-Portuguese cuisine, including their famous flame grilled PERi-PERi chicken, burgers, wraps, pitas, salads, sides and more. With their colourful, flavourful dishes, casual dining style and variety of delicious PERi-PERi sauces, Nando’s is now proud to have more than 270 restaurants across Australia, New Zealand and even Fiji.

For their new location in Sydney’s outer suburb of Penrith in the popular Riley Street dining precinct, Nando’s sought the expertise of both Prototype and the global creative design consultancy group, Design Clarity.

Prototype to work in conjunction with Design Clarity to provide all loose furniture for the new Nando’s restaurant location, including the use of feature tiles and different timber grains and textures to create a warm, colourful restaurant with a rustic finish.

Drawing inspiration from the restaurant’s recent design collaboration with local African crafters and artists, Prototype chose to furnish the new Penrith location with two varieties of the sleek Huston Chairs, one custom upholstered in a NSW Leather Sundance Sorba Fabric with a Natural Stain and Satin Finish, and the other with a Walnut Stain on the frame and Yellow 2pac stain on the back rest.

Adding to the combination of patters and colours, Nolita Stools finished in a COL Orange powder coat were paired with Chair Cushions in a NSW Leather Laguna Hermitage, bringing new life to the restaurant’s bright and welcoming interior. As a final addition to the seating options, coordinating Nolita Chairs finished in a COL Orange powder coat were chosen for the primary dining chairs.

For the dining tables, Prototype chose simple and rustic Black Round Tables, complete with round stainless steel bases powder coated in black and Tasmanian Oak tops with a clear finish. External tables were oiled while internal tables were given a clear 2pac finish.

Finally, the restaurant was fitted out with Custom Geo Round Tables, including bases Geo powder coated in black and topped with Tasmanian Oak Timber with yellow edging.

“Delivering the highest quality loose furniture available, Prototype went above and beyond to make sure the newest Nando’s location showcased their vibrant menu, welcoming service and enduring legacy in Australia. There’s no doubt customers will enjoy the fun and alluring dining space for years to come!”
