Rydges Southbank in Brisbane has launched an $11 million refurbishment set to transform the look and feel of its popular function and events space and introduce a bar and restaurant concept inspired by high-end New York dining. The new 2887sqm podium level features five function rooms capable of housing up to 500 delegates, conceptualised by revered LA interior designer Tracy Beckmann

Named after the Roman God of food, wine and indulgence, Bacchus ignites the senses of Brisbane-ites with its exquisitely designed boutique interiors, Mediterranean inspired menu, a luxurious beverage offering and terrace pool bar.

Bacchus appointed revered Los Angeles designer Tracy Beckmann to the project for her knowledge and flare for NYC/LA style and design. Her design approach is to emulate the chic restaurant and bars found at some of the most impressive boutique hotels found in South Beach, California and NYC.

Boutique interiors exude extravagance, with beautiful Italian sheer draperies, a custom Capiz Shell chandelier and an assortment of beautiful dining chairs and settees throughout.

The dining room in Bacchus is an exquisite space carefully designed and beautifully executed to encompass the unpretentious and accessible food style delivered. The room is complimented by luxurious finishes including a stunning chandelier in the centre of the room and enchanting views through the full length windows onto the pool deck.

General manager of Rydges Southbank Hotel Patrick Lonergan said the refurbishment has drastically improved the hotel’s function and event capabilities. “The new design will mean more natural light for each of the functions and events rooms which will be good for corporate meetings and daytime cocktail events,” he said. “The boutique style interiors coupled with the natural light minimises that underground feel common to so many functions and events spaces.

“Guests using our function rooms will have direct access to the Bacchus terrace which will feature a poolside bar, cabanas and an entertainment space”.

The Rydges Hotel façade on Grey and Glenelg streets has also been given new and improved street appeal with changes including vertical gardens, new Porte Cochére and four new retail spaces spanning 177 sqm.
