The site featured a heritage listed façade with original stained glass, blue and frosted, which was taken into consideration with designing the store, tying in with the overall design scheme.

A light and fresh ambience was the aim for this design as well as a contemporary Greek aesthetic without being too themed.

There were specific requirements to provide a condiments long counter with a product range displayed for a specific order to help the store operationally. The materials selected had to be durable and clean to create the fresh atmosphere as well as longer lasting in this style of environment.

The colour scheme takes on board the Greek natural colours – blue and white assisting to the fresh feel of the store. The Italian hand painted tiles are reminiscent of the Greek national colours in contemporary patterns, the white epoxy floor also assists in this contemporary translation of Greek colours.

The metal framed screens with the tile infill create a dramatic feature creating an architectural language where the opposing textures talk to each other.

Concealed LED strip lighting throughout the tenancy help to reinforce a sense of glowing freshness and highlight the crisp contrast of the navy blue and white colour scheme.

The patterned tiles are a feature of this design, they create a fresh and light feel and really tie the design together. Their delicate patterns don’t distract from the produce but also create a warmth in contrast to the fresh crisp white.

The decorative fixtures of crockery and hanging aprons are a sense of homely recognition and familiarity.
