The unique floor plan is a major feature of the site. The perimeter of the space is set out in a circular format with floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the iconic Qantas Gate 1 Terminal. This particular gate is one of the very few where the aeroplane is almost at arms length from the glass.

The design concept draws heavily on the Crown Lager products. The ambience, colour scheme and feature design elements are a direct representation of the branding. The interior fit out is predominately gold and black in colour scheme, directly taken from the Crown Lager branding. The lounge bar feel is reminiscent of the airport lounge of the years gone by. The furniture pieces have a distinctly 70’s design aesthetic.

Blackmilk worked closely with Seventh Sense Consultants who specialize in hospitality bar services.

The design concept requires a space that was intimate and diverse in its seating experience. The feature gold screen partition acts as a dividing element, which at the same time allows for views of the iconic Gate 1 Terminal.

The high end finishes reinforced the concept which is derived heavily from the Crown Lager branding.

The lighting fixtures remain an integral part of design concept. The Tom Dixon gold pendant lights are representative of bubbles found in a glass of Crown Lager beer. The pendants are randomly hung to emulate bubbles floating to the surface of the glass.

The feature glass cool room with gold plated beer kegs create a drawcard and a focal point of interest.

The use of gold and black in the fit out is a scheme not usually found in contemporary designs and be could be suggested to be a little retro, glamorous/James Bond.
