After winning over Paddington with their sophisticated establishment, sustainable dining offerings and spirited drinks list, Darling & Co briefly closed its doors to undergo the second stage of design manifestations.

“Delivering our vision in stages has allowed us to observe how the space works in reality, and means we can successfully match our distinctive concept with the experience our patrons want,” co-owner and operator Jacqueline Madden said.

In just a few short weeks Darling & Co, under the genius guidance of Angus Munro from Marc & Co, has completely redesigned the space, linking the style and chic comfort of the restaurant with the glamorous feature bar.

The stunning new bar is almost unrecognizable from its previous look, allowing more room for seating, while the cavernous space has been filled with stylish wooden bar tables, divided by timber framing and hanging plants which open up into a vibrant high ceiling. Blending contemporary finishes with retro elements in a nod to the building’s iconic history, the new bar is warm and inviting, transitioning seamlessly to the restaurant adjacent.

Afternoon tea has been a fashionable form of entertaining since 17th century with ‘Tea rooms’ becoming the place for meeting friends and sharing gossip.

Nestled among leafy Paddington, Darling & Co pays homage to the opulent and generous spaces traditionally known to host afternoon tea. The material palette is feminine and intricate in detail, creating a warm atmosphere conducive to long ladies’ luncheons.
