Edge Design Studio was engaged to completely refurbish this iconic, heritage listed pub purchased by the Good Beer Company. The sprawling pub, set over two levels consists of public and lounge bars, courtyards, gaming rooms and a 120 seat restaurant on the top floor relaunched at the end of 2016 as Duke’s Bistro. A New Orleans-inspired theme carries across the two floors, showcasing a French-colonial interior and food concept.

The pub’s Art Deco origins meant that there were many rooms, each one taking on a different feel with brightly coloured walls and a quirky mix of taxidermy, cane furniture, pots plants and travelled palms, art and found objects creating a completely different experience in each space. A two story hand-painted mural is featured in the stairwell of the hotel.
