Located just a stone’s throw away from Perth’s iconic Scarborough beachfront is Matisse Beach Club, a brand new 2000sqm venue complete with wading pools, cabanas, outdoor alfresco, two large bars, casual and lounge dining areas, even a dance floor.

Designer Jenlin Chia wanted to create a chilled environment that gives patrons the impression and the experience of an “International Beachclub”.

“I wanted Patrons to enter Matisse Beachclub and feel as if they had been transported to an International Beachclub away from home, to feel they are at a retreat, to enjoy an experience and try a new adventure,” Jenlin said. “My design Intent is to ensure people enjoy the experience within the space I have designed once they have arrived.”

Six Cabanas was created to represent a different beachclub from around the world. Barrisol was specified for the sunken back area to create an atmosphere of natural daylight.

Materials such as wood, polished plaster and resin was used to create and reinforce the beachclub theme. White wash timber was used at back of bar and the wave ceiling detail to create a talking point. The ceiling slats were usde to emulate wave from the ocean. Timber wash tiles are used for the flooring design, which creates a geometric layout linking the design with the cabanas, maitre D station and furniture.

The colour base is a neutral palette with tones of white and grey, the use of vibrant playful colours in the Cabanas set off the space.

Gemmy Pendant Lamp

Available in as many colours as it has faces and tones, Gemmy was used to represent a deconstructed beachball and she encapsulates a sense of whimsy for attractive, diffused lighting. Hang several together for a look that will redefine a room.
Designed for Slamp.
