Docked in Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s new dining precinct beside David Jones, Nantucket draws inspiration from the iconic wonders of Cape Cod with its white walls, dark hardwood floors and beautiful New England interiors.
The venue features a chic café-bar, an elegant formal dining space and a private dining area known as The Montauk Room complete with a modish glassed-in terrace.
Opened by TJ and Kim Peabody, Nantucket was built upon a couple’s dream to open a one-of-a-kind kitchen and bar based around the sumptuous design features found in the Hamptons area of New York State. Tu Projects worked with this passionate couple, transforming their dream into a reality.
Designed by Round Peg Design, each element of the restaurant has been carefully chosen and constructed to create a holistic vision but with a homely feel. The white walls and dark timber floors are the initial elements that capture the attention. These are typical to Cape Cod designs and combine a natural finish with a cleanness that is reassuring. The layout is expansive and inviting with an island bar, open kitchen and several dining areas. Patrons are spoilt for choice with options to sit in the casual dining area, formal dining area and even a terrace complete with glass windows that welcome natural light into the restaurant. There is even a private dining room with full conference facilities for business that can also service comfortable social functions. The vibrant shades of green found in the fabrics of the cushions and the live green wall provide a lush environment that links to back to nature. The restaurant is even complete with its very own fireplace.
The Nantucket Kitchen and Bar project was an extremely challenging, unique and rewarding fit out for Tú Projects for a number of reasons. On top of a short time frame to complete such a detailed and complex fit out, the project involved the installation of a one piece, 1.6 tonne, 7 metre Cookline. This piece of equipment was imported from Italy and the lead time required the Cookline to be installed just a week before handover, therefore leaving the construction of the kitchen to be completed in one week.
Other features of the restaurant include the extensive use of detailed joinery panelling which was all hand finished on site, marble bench tops, dining room tables and a large custom made refrigerated wine display which is the centrepiece of the bar area. All of the above installation challenges were met and addressed to produce a stunning fit out.
