One Moncur claims the honour of being one of Sydney’s first champagne-focused bars and a much-anticipated addition to Woollahra’s growing drinking and dining scene.

Brothers Luke and Jeremy Browne along with business partner Anthony Rosen have been the driving force behind the reincarnation of the historic Phoenix Hotel building on leafy Moncur Street. The new bar takes many of its design features from the Phoenix’s rich art deco past and graphic designer Henrietta Reed has created a luxe aesthetic with some quirky champagne-inspired elements, including a graphic deco-inspired feature wall.

The wine list offers over 30 champagnes by the bottle, including classic grande marques and an impressive list of grower- made champagnes. There is also an elegant list of boutique Australian and French wines for those preferring something other then champagne. The experienced One Moncur team will be on hand to guide patrons through their selection by the glass or bottle.

One Moncur is excited to introduce Sydney to some grower made, boutique champagnes that rarely feature on lists outside of France. They have also ensured that there are plenty of champagnes for under $20 a glass and bottles for under $100 to show that champagne can be an affordable luxury.

The bar will have a small food offering focusing on quality local produce. Woollahra’s very own Victor Churchill will be providing the charcuterie. Oysters are sourced from renowned supplier Bay Rock and will be shucked to order at the open bar. Artisanal cheeses will be served as part of the bars casual all day menu.

One Moncur is set to become a favourite gathering place for locals and those seeking a relaxed premium bar experience where they can experiment with new champagnes by the glass or enjoy a familiar bottle of wine or champagne.
