The refurbishment for Sin Citi was about creating an intimacy and glamour from a time in the past that didn’t necessarily exist.

Both sexy and subdued, designer Kelly Ross hoped to reinterpret the associations with ‘Kings Cross nightclub’ and create something that made you feel glamorous by simply being there.

A sense of drama was essential in drawing you in, differentiating Sin Citi from the strip.

Details that were important in reinforcing this dramatic feel are red carpet on the main stairs, sleek black hide upholstery and a steam punk palette of mixed metal finishes.

Private booths and corners are an important part of the design, both from an operations point of view and to feel that in a huge club you can still ‘get lost’ and have a private party with your friends.

The bones of the building are beautiful and are filled with Art Deco features that were worked with and enhanced instead of replacing.
Chandelier lighting features over the bar were iconic and by staying on as features in the new space, they represent history and stories of the past incarnations rather than reminding you of The Bank Hotel.
