The renovation to the Golden Barley was to the rear Bistro Area of the hotel. The concept was to open up the area to the garden and give it a vintage garden dining appeal. The large tiled communal dining tables, large new banquette dining area & window seating provide a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy the food on offer.
There is extensive use of reclaimed timber , blackboards , brickwork, vintage glass lighting, pressed metal ceilings and a mix of vintage furnishings. The aesthetic is warm and inviting like a lounge room, where families are encouraged to enjoy the hotel.
Bergstorm Architects created a warm, quirky, inviting bistro/lounge in the existing bistro which had beautiful natural light, yet lacked colour and texture.
They designed a family friendly, comfortable environment which reflects the casual local ethos of community as well as the warm and friendly service the Golden Barley Hotel is well known for.
The communal tables and rustic, eclectic furniture and lighting showcase the family friendly and flexible approach to the bistro lounge which works day time and night time.
The celebration of colour in the materials, furniture and lighting reflects the character of the pub and its fresh food & drink offerings.
The mood and ambience created with lowered suspended ceilings and decorative pendant lights is cosy and fits well within the pub.
Bergstorm Architects opened up the interior bistro to the exterior beer garden by introducing timber bi fold windows and indoor/ outdoor seating connecting the two spaces.
