After five months of refurbishment, The Fox Hotel has reopened its doors, unveiling the ground-level Long Bar and its accompanying restaurant, The Meatball Company.

The ambient light filled eatery, which is annexed to the Long Bar, is a blend of vintage and contemporary, featuring exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, shelves of retro hand mincers, blackboard art-covered ceiling and a touch of greenery.

The fitout took traditional meatball restaurant concepts as an inspiration. Marc&Co wanted an eclectic fitout to reflect the local demographic and appeal to appeal to workers, families, artists, musicians, tourists.

Stylist Caro Toledo sourced collectables such as the mincer and wood spoon collection, and wall art. Graphic Designer Tony Gooley deigned the gingam pattern for the tables. Local artist Adam Lester was engaged to undertake the ceiling mural.

Being a redesign of an existing restaurant, there were no major planning changes.

To achieve a raw authentic experience, the existing brick walls were kept, screen printed gingham table clothes introduced and the chairs from the previous restaurant were repainted. However it is the graphics on the ceiling that really ties the concept together.
