Interior designer Pascale Gomes-McNabb (Cumulus Inc., Cutler & Co) has glamorously uplifted iconic Melbourne restaurant The Stokehouse, with an upstairs renovation.

The million-dollar-plus renovation of the dining room and kitchen closed the upstairs restaurant for a couple of months whilst Pascale weaved her magic. The venue has retained its famous beach shack style with sophisticated, well-designed finishes. Natural light softly streams in through the large windows which frame the trademark bay views.
There are limed American oak floors, white walls, leather banquettes, pastel upholstered chairs, timber ceiling fans that circle under exposed trusses, vaulted ceilings, custom-made light fittings and linen covered tables. The room’s pillars are decorated with wrappings of brass which is also used as cladding on the bar.

Audio for The Stokehouse was designed and installed by Your Sound Investment who opted for a Bose system comprising three Bose DS16F ceiling speakers in the entrance, two Bose DS100f ceiling speakers in the function space and four Bose FS3 Freespace systems with cubes and flush satellites for the main restaurant and bar locations. Also installed were eight Quest Ms401W speakers for the balcony areas, and four Redback ceiling speakers for the back of house and kitchen.

“The audio system is designed to provide uniform sound throughout the open plan space and for the balconies,” remarked Richard Hallam,

managing director of YSI. “Even the kitchens have sound. The function area has inputs for outboard audio devices and DJ equipment support. The overall result is a warm inviting sound with good sonic control.”

Powering the speakers are a Cloud CXV425 4 channel amplifier, a Cloud CXV 225 2 channel amplifier, an Australian Monitor AMIS 480P amplifier and a Redback amplifier for the entrance speakers. A Cloud Z8 Controller System Zoner is used for control.
