After spending more than 20 years honing his skills and working with Gordon Ramsay and managing a 5-star restaurant in Asia, Matthew Lance returned home to share his passion for modern dining, with the opening of his restaurant three five three in Wembley.

Passion, honesty and craft are three words that sum up not only the philosophy behind the ‘Three Five Three’ culture and produce but are also reflect the values embedded in the design.

Habitat 1’s brief was to capture the essence of this philosophy within a contemporary bar/dining experience. The use of raw materials such as steel, timber, stone and concrete provide the foundation for the evocative interior, laying bare the architecture of the space.

Layers of texture were then applied, sheers and leathers to soften the space, facilitating an intimate dining experience, while oversized feature pendants and sultry graphic walls were added for a sense of the dramatic that is captured in the flavour combinations and the culinary presentation.

Giving depth to the design was an important element for Habitat 1 so creating a clear view into the kitchen extends the customer journey while showcasing the work of the chefs. Elements of surprise in the toilet block and attention to detail within the building’s facade in terms of lighting, signage and graphics adds a further dimension and completes the holistic design that embodies their client’s vision.
