The Woolwich Pier Hotel renovations take inspiration from the tradition of British pubs and particularly the rise of the contemporary British gastro pubs with a twist. There are a series of spaces broken up into distinct areas that come together to form a precinct that reflects the sensibilities of British influences and celebrates the social aspect of many clubs that were established in far flung colonial outposts of the empire around the world. In these clubs British citizens would socialise in an environment that was a home away from home and gave them a sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

The redesign is sympathetic of the heritage of the building – putting some soul back into the pub whilst affording a new lease on life with playful modern details and quirks. The new courtyard or ‘Terrace’ is a take on a vintage sports club with a subtle British influence that could just as comfortably exist in Australian sporting history. There are the Pavilions on ‘The Lawn’ and ‘The Clubhouse’ with an enticing kids area. The large ‘Dining Hall’ is bustling yet warm and inviting whilst ‘Upstairs’ takes its inspiration from British Colonial with a campaign influence. Here you will find antiques and curiosities gathered from travels around the world with all the finest treasures kept and displayed proudly in ‘The Good Room’. ‘The Balcony’ is a relaxed breezy wrap-around verandah with a British West Indies feel.

The initial design was completed by SJB Interiors with final design development and styling by Luchetti Krelle – two of Australia’s leading hospitality design specialists with the works being completed by Chris Field and his team at CWF Constructions.
