Surrounded by light industrial buildings, the Bentley hotel’s relatively bleak aesthetic drew a limited crowd. The aim of the refurbishment was to inject warmth and purpose into the hotel, attracting a broader demographic and a family friendly crowd whilst retaining its appeal as a casual, laid-back venue.
A longtime local favourite the Bentley Hotel required a modern make over that wouldn’t take away its traditional pub feel. Architect Ashlea Hughes from kp Architects based in Queensland were given a brief to “ inject life” into this hotel using the existing frame to clean it up and neutralize it. The hotel houses a Private Bar, main front Bar, and a Restaurant which opens out to a Garden area and two Snooker game areas.
Dedicated zones have been created within the existing public bar to facilitate and encourage the hotel's bistro patrons. A palette of bright, warm yet gender neutral materials was chosen to welcome a wider crowd to the hotel. Furnishings were chosen for their warmth, simplicity and ability to endure heavy use. By continuing this scheme through to the rear bar, this space has re-established itself within the hotel as a function/spillover space.
Furntiure Options supplied the furniture with a colour palette in reds, blacks and beige with products of natural timber such as Shisham high and low tables and European Beach timber stools and chairs. A collection of ottomans are scattered around the games area, complimenting the leather couches and low tables. Stainless steel and compact laminate outdoor furniture adds a modern element. The hotel is welcoming to different demographics which will now attract more female clientele as well as the locals.

The audio visual requirements of the Bentley Hotel were taken care of by Mega Vision Sound & Lighting including a Nightlife music system.
Nightlife has been working closely with the Spirit Hotel Group for a number of years. Their extensive music catalogue means that they can provide customised music programming to suit the vast range of different requirements within the group. In this case, Nightlife's National Sales Manager, Phil Brown worked closely with Mega Vision Sound and Lighting to deliver a two channel music system offering an up-tempo, contemporary atmosphere for their Main Bar through to a relaxed family friendly vibe for their dining area. With Mega Vision and Nightlife working so closely together they were able to respond and deliver an integrated music and advertising solution exactly matched to the needs of the venue, meaning one less thing to worry about.
Mega Vision also installed Panasonic 42” and 50” Commercial Grade Plasma Screens.
