Clancy's Fish Bar City Beach is the third of the Clancy's Fish Pubs in Perth, established by brothers Joe and John Fisher. The Fishers took possession of the former restaurant building in late November 2010.

To ensure the earliest possible relaunch within the remaining summer months, the new work was limited to the interior public areas. The makeover was completed in the first week of January 2011.

The design approach was to bring the established Clancy's casual family friendly atmosphere to the beach. The venue was to be original, fresh and appropriate to it's unique seaside setting.

Carpets were removed and various artworks were painted over the old concrete surface including a hopscotch game and a mermaid. The high raking ceiling was painted out in a dark charcoal colour and large void was filled with twelve new oversized, brightly coloured and whimsical chandeliers.

Multicoloured timber slatted chairs were sourced from Barebones Artspace in Byron Bay. Other furniture included a multitude of various coloured chairs, coloured timber tables and beach ball lamps. It even included beach towels draped over balustrades. The new interiors relied on an explosion of flamboyant colours and curiosity.

The chandeliers were designed by Paul Burnham and assembled by stage set design and construction company, Plumb Construction who also contributed their own light designs, sea anemone lamps and wall and floor graphics.

The success of the design relied on achieving a striking and inspired interior which would appeal to a broad demographic, especially inclusive of beach goers and families. The space is designed to convey a sense of fun and to engage the customers in a carnival of whimsy and colour.

Clancy's Fish Bar is a place that doesn't take itself too seriously, it is somewhere to walk into straight off the beach for a plate of fish & chips and an ice cold beer - very Australian.
