The Craftsman Bar+Brasserie
Shop R102, Westfield Carousel Shopping Centre, 1382 Albany Highway Cannington, WA 6107

The name The Craftsman was firstly established, so the design brief was pretty clear - the client wanted his patrons to walk through the venue with the impression that selected craftsman had designed certain items. The use of metals, or metal-like textures were used in refernce to blacksmiths and jewelers.

Creative timber forms and unique furniture pieces where designed  to represent a carpenter and the decorative floor tiles were to represent a stonemason.

The repetitive Herringbone pattern used throughout was chosen to describes a distinctive V-shaped weaving pattern usually found in fabrics. Again another use of form to represent a craftsman.

The feature ceiling incases RGB LED strip lighting so the venue can change its mood depending on the time of day.

To keep the interior practical and modern a decorative tile pattern was incorporated throughout and the walls were cladded in either a textured tile or MDF scotia moulding. Injected upholstery walls were used tol help with the acoustic in the venue.

Samantha Broadley (Interior Designer), Frank Lemma (Architect) and the team at Oldfield Knott Architects, are renowned for crafting and designing unique buildings and spaces that are true to the design brief of the client. Refurbishment of Cannington's Craftsman Bar + Brasserie has led to the development of a new range of hotel tables and stools by Furniture Options.
