The first Hippo Creek African Grill was opened just over five years ago in Scarborough to bring the unique and exciting South African steak house dining experience to Perth. Owned and operated by passionate chef Gareth Simpson and partner Nadine, Hippo Creek African Grill has been very popular with both South Africans and West Australians diners alike, winning regular patronage with our exciting menus and dishes, famous steaks, generous servings and vibrant and exotic interior dining setting.

No expense has been spared in the fit-out. Daniel Gomer, one of the owners who took over the old Earth Market site in Subiaco, says the figure is close to $1 million. The result is smart and sophisticated.

Hippo Creek Subiaco is a stylish contemporary African restaurant with a more intimate setting and select menu featuring meats and wines.

Bremick has chosen a contemporary combination of natural materials which form an intimate warm dining experience and allow diners to fully appreciate the African char-grilled cooking process.

Features include a recycled timber wall with a temperature-controlled, dry-aged cool room filled with hanging saddles of Ningaloo and Cape Grim beef in full view of the meat lovers.

The bar and reception counters are constructed of recycled brick and timber. Antique mechanics lights are scattered over the bar counter and in clusters throughout the restaurant.
