The Perth institution with the catchy name has had a revamp keeping the elements for attracting tourists. It's a place to watch sport and have a drink out in the sun. And if you're a tourist there's the obligatory photo to be taken by the hotel's sign.
The upgrade was done in two stages. Stage one was the inside section completed at the beginning of 2009 and stage two was completed at the end of 2009. Andy Baudry, General Manager, had some very defined ideas of how he wanted the Hotel to look and designed much of the hotel renovations himself.
Perth AV's Mike Bird and Martin Davey worked closely with Andy on the AV design to compliment his building designs. There were a few brackets and mounts that needed to be designed and manufactured for this job and the builder and fabricators really came to the party often welding through the night.
The hotel has a lot of light colour timber so changing the colour and atmosphere with LED lighting was the perfect choice. Perth AV fitted LED Tubes under all bars and the backdrop for the bars has glass shelves so they got full surround LED Tubes.
The main lighting is all RGB LED down lights, twenty-four in all, creating a different feel and warmth with the press of a button. |

Perth AV set the lights up so that the ceiling lights, bar lights and behind bar lights are controlled separately so Andy has great control of the looks.
The men’s urinals have four 10.4” Marshal monitors fitted into the walls so the guys don’t miss out on any sport action plus they also have one way windows to check out anything happening in the bar!
Turning them on and off was a problem so Perth AV wired switches back to the rack with LED’s to show the power status. The vision is quite extensive with three 58” Plasma screens, six 42” Plasma, six 26” LCD TV’s, four 10.4” LCD Screens and two 32” LCD’s for digital signage all running via an Extron Mattrix.
The sound system is fairly simple, with Turbosound Impact55 through the inside and existing EV’s outside all running from Lab Gruppen C series amplifiers, processed by Digitool and switched with Crestron. They have an active sub at the DJ point inside which is only used by the DJ and two barrel subs outside.
Andy wanted a little more feel outside so Perth AV fitted EV ceiling subs into the barrels and they work quite well. Stage three will see extensive LED lighting through the outside areas and the addition of six Turbosound TCS081CW speakers.
