Craft beer specialist James Squire, in partnership with the Kapinkoff family operators, has opened the doors of a brand new brewhouse in Perth, WA. The brewhouse is named ‘The Generous Squire’ to reflect the character of the brand’s namesake James Squire, who pioneered craft beer brewing in Australia during the 19th century.
The Generous Squire includes several funky bars and dining spaces, as well as a fully functional micro brewery.
The design of the venue was the work of leading Australasian design house, 3BM Design and Construct.
Director and CEO Bruce Mansfield led the design team to create a unique environment over two levels, cleverly utilising both internal and alfresco spaces, to establish what is a unique venue for the Perth market.
“We were set the challenge to deliver a venue which represented the re-birth of the James Squire brand,” Mansfield said. “It was important to still embrace the values of the brand but at the same time introduce a more contemporary look and feel into the design of the venue."
There is extensive use of Jarrah in the interior and exterior of the building, combined with elements in Corten and granite, providing a real point of difference.

The furniture is in Jarrah timber. Dining chairs were upholstered in dark chocolate and Ivory leather. Ottomans and lounge chairs in dark choclate, ivory and eucalypt leather. Banquette seating was upholstered in custom printed James Squire fabric.
3BM were commissioned over other design houses in Australia to ensure that the essence of James Squire was captured in the total look and feel of the redeveloped venue.
