Tucked just off Hay Street, Subiaco, The Village Bar is a welcoming space with a polished edge. Luxe navy velvet couches, exposed brick, yellow and white striped awnings and vintage tiles are all topped off with oversized palms and splashes of greenery. Entering off a laneway, the space offers a combination of booth seating, high bars, couches and ottomans to choose from. Guests can drink and dine wherever they feel comfortable. Arched bi-fold windows on either side of the venue and polished concrete floors keep it light and airy.
Owners Michael Walker, 32, Amelia Goyder, 29, and Luke Walker, 36, had a very clear vision to create a relaxed venue for local and like-minded people. The group designed the venue themselves and took on the task of renovating – working on everything from bricklaying to tiling to painting and branding. The result is flexible and seamless bar and dining spaces with nods to Greenwich Village with splashes of Miami yellow and old school quirks. Highlights include a hand-built bottle wall, featuring over 300 green wine bottles and a Private Dining Room with thick navy curtains, cosy fire place and plasma TV.
The Village Bar offers 15 beers on tap, plenty of dining and drinking spaces and a wine list jammed full of very drinkable drops. Open 7 days a week from 11am till late, the kitchen has taken a similar ‘casual but quality’ ethos. The combination of fresh produce prepared in satisfying, rustic and simple dishes has the local critics raving and plenty of loyal patrons.
Furniture Options worked with the owners in assisting with drawings and layout suggestions to sourcing fabrics and key pieces.
