Centre's Completed Parkside Refurbishment Offers Greater Flexibility

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre has unveiled clever new moveable walls in its Convention Centre Parkside, making its event spaces more flexible than ever.

The new operable walls have been installed as part of the final phase in an extensive Parkside redesign, allowing event planners to create enclosed rooms for conference sessions, or broad open spaces for exhibitions and breakout sessions.

Together with a new interior design unveiled last year, the improvements create a bright and contemporary new look while increasing the overall flexibility of the Parkside facilities.

Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre Chief Executive Ton van Amerongen said the Parkside redesign coincided with a major capital investment in the Centre's technical inventory, including new high definition equipment to enhance video production, new audio visual equipment in the Exhibition Centre and a $1.5 million technical fit-out in Parkside meeting rooms.

"We're very proud to offer the leading conference facilities in Australia, and our continuing investment in technology and improvement is part of our commitment to providing the best possible standards," Mr van Amerongen said. "Our latest enhancements give conference organisers not only a world-class Centre but also a highly flexible and innovative venue."

The new moveable walls have been installed in two Parkside rooms on the Centre's upper level, each 250 sqm in size and capable of hosting up to 240 people. The two rooms can be combined into a single room of 500 sqm, or opened entirely to incorporate the foyer and open space between the Parkside Auditorium and Parkside Ballroom.
