Whitecliffe Imports at ANZ Stadium

More than 15 million fans have walked through the ANZ Stadium turnstiles since the venue's grand opening in 1999.

Purpose built for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, ANZ Stadium seats up to 83,500 spectators which helps create an electric atmosphere for live sport and entertainment.

ANZ Stadium's unique design means it is the only venue in the world which can host five professional sports – rugby league, rugby union, Australian rules, football and cricket.

It has also proven the first choice for global entertainment acts including U2, The Rolling Stones, Andre Rieu and AC/DC.

With that as the background, ANZ Stadium in association with PMDL Architecture & Design Pty Ltd set out to design a carpet that would complement the venue's 5-star standards while withstanding the constant foot traffic.

HTW Design Carpet was chosen for its ability to provide design options that are flexible, fast to produce and cost effective.

The PMDL design brief was given to Whitecliffe Imports who are HTW’s partner in Australia, New Zealand and China, and 100cm x 100cm sampling was prepared for the corridor sections of Level 3 and 4 giving the ANZ Stadium a good opportunity to see real carpet in as it would be produced on order.

The carpet engineering considerations for a project of this type are always in the foreground of any decision to be made and the 100% nylon Arcade 630 with integrated Filz back was chosen for its ability to withstand upwards of 2,500 feet per hour over extended periods of time and still maintain its 5 star appearance.
