Burswood Marquee lives another day thanks to Jbn Sound Solutions

Surrounded by pristine parkland, lush tropical gardens and a backdrop of the balmy Burswood Entertainment Complex poolside setting, their Summer Marquee captures the essence of West Australian outdoor entertaining.

It’s a stylish, air-conditioned venue with customised glass panelling made in Germany,a flow of natural light, themed aesthetic lighting and contemporary furniture. This exclusive marquee can cater for more than 450 guests banquet-style including a dance floor, band, stage, audio visual screens and much more.

“The Marquee was first erected four years ago to solve a shortage in ballroom space,” commented Michael Altieri, Director of Conventions and Events at Burswood Entertainment Complex. “However a number of high-rise apartments were in the process of being constructed and once occupied, we had a number of complaints from residents about the noise emanating from the Marquee. It became a very serious issue for us and as we are a community minded organization, we needed to find a solution.”

As it happens, the Australian Hotels Association held a tradeshow at the Burswood complex and Jbn Sound Solutions were one of the exhibitors, based on the Mega Vision Sound and Lighting stand.

“We decided that the Jbn Sound Ceiling was the only viable solution for us,” said Michael. “We employed an acoustic engineer to model the proposed install on the data available, and the outcome showed that the decibel ratings would drop significantly plus the thump of the bass would not travel so far.”

Mega Vision Sound and Lighting installed the Jbn Sound Ceiling speaker system comprising of 144 Tiles (1296 Speakers)hung four meters off the ground from a truss.

“When we first used the Jbn Sound Ceiling we discovered that we can certainly push it in fact we were punching it out at 100dB on the dance floor,” stated Michael. “At the operator desk twenty metres away it was 80dB which is a significant drop from the center of the room.”

The acoustic engineer was employed again to measure every single event held in the Marquee for the first month since installation of the Jbn Sound Ceiling. Measurements were taken inside the structure and at the resident’s apartments which were approximately 600 metres away.

The result was that noise levels at the apartments are down to around 39dB which is incredibly low, and the Marquee has become compliant with the local council requirements.

“With no more complaints from the neighbours the Marquee is no longer a venue in jeopardy,” concluded a satisfied Michael.
