Adamson chosen for Hillsong Church upgrade

Hillsong Church is among the largest and best recognised churches in the world with branches in London, Stockholm, Paris, Moscow and New York City, though Australia’s Baulkham Hills Campus remains the organisation’s flagship. Its audio system has to cope with a wide variety of content, ranging from quietly spoken program material right through to full-blown rock bands. The Adamson system – comprising Y-Axis, Spektrix and Metrix line source systems – was selected by the church’s in house audio team, headed by Andrew Crawford and Steve LeRoux, after a reported period of testing and evaluation taking in several leading brands.

The completed installation – proposed and demonstrated by Adamson and CMI with the assistance of Norwest productions – consists of 34 Y-10 co-linear line source elements with an under hang of eight Spektrix 15-degree enclosures. For delays there are 18 Metrix elements while low frequencies are fulfilled by six T-21 subwoofers flown in a dual cardioid configuration with two additional T21 and Metrix subs beside the stage. A further six Metrix subs are flown behind the main arrays for low frequency extension.

The system is currently being installed by Brad Law and Cuepoint, and is expected to be completed by February 2011. Speaking of the church’s decision to opt for his company’s design, Peter Trojkovic of CMI Music & Audio described himself as ‘extremely privileged and excited at being awarded the contract to supply such a world class facility. It is extra satisfying that the contract has been awarded because of the overall performance of the system and system design as supplied by Adamson Systems and CMI.’ In addition to the Baulkham Hills Campus, Hillsong has also chosen Adamson & CMI to provide an equivalent solution for its newly acquired Waterloo campus in 2011.
