Vivian Chan Shaw Rug Collection for Designer Rugs
Vivian and Claudia Chan Shaw of the Vivian Chan Shaw fashion label have created an exciting new range of
hand-made rugs for Designer Rugs.
The Vivian Chan Shaw label is known for its beautiful hand loomed knitwear, vibrant colours and soft fluid
shapes. The goal of this collection was to translate the essence of drape, flow and movement to rugs.
In creating a feeling of movement Vivian Chan Shaw have used swirls, geometrics, and zigzags. These lines give
the illusion of motion and reflect the way their garments move when you walk.
“It was wonderful working with the wool swatches in the Designer Rugs showroom. Playing with the colours to
create the rugs was a very similar process to the way in which we work when colouring a design for our
knitwear.
We are surrounded by swatches and lay out families of colours. The colours are then blended together to
create a secondary palette. The beauty of creating hand loomed knitwear is that we are not using a readymade
piece of fabric. We mix and blend different yarns to create striking and unique colour combinations.
The result is a collection of dramatic, lively and animated rugs, bursting with energy and colour”, says Claudia
Chan Shaw, Co-Director Vivian Chan Shaw.
Vivian Chan Shaw joins brands such as Akira Isogawa, Easton Pearson, Wedgwood and Alex Perry to release
rug collections with Australia’s leading rug company Designer Rugs.
The Vivian Chan Shaw collection is priced from $4950AUD (200x300cm) and consists of six colourful and
distinctive designs made from 100% New Zealand Wool, with selected designs featuring highlights of Viscose.
All designs can be custom coloured and sized to suit any interior and are suitable for residential and
commercial applications.
The Vivian Chan Shaw rug collection for Designer Rugs will be officially launched in Sydney on Wednesday 19th
May, 2010.
