CornerStone Ale House

Overlooking the Brighton Estate Lake, The Cornerstone Ale House development redefines the concept of the traditional British pub, with that in mind the design explores traditional elements in shapes and forms which have been twisted and detailed to a contemporary design. Its character is inviting for the local community to gather for sport, music, food and drinks in a space that caters for all.

The venue attracts their key customer by offering a sophisticated and family friendly design approach which steps away from the customary dark and claustrophobic traditional styles of the past. There have been elements of light added whilst keeping a sense of warmth and welcome. Laser cut panels and indirect lighting allows the venue to change depending on the promotions or occasion. Further use of 3D dimension forms gives the light opportunity to create shadows and highlights which alter naturally depending on time of day.

The Cornerstone Ale House has been split into four areas to accommodate the patron’s mood and purpose:

The Lower Lounge/Courtyard was designed so both areas connect as one space with feature laser cut panels flowing from the outside in,

generating a stylish atmosphere yet providing ambient light for the outdoors. Polished concrete pavers have been laid throughout which also helps the spaces appear to be one.

Located on the upper level next to the lower lounge/courtyard is the Sports Bar which has minimal features and furniture allowing the patrons to focus on the large projector screen which broadcasts important sporting events. Large bi-fold doors allows the space to expand into the courtyard area on a sunny day. Warm materials and 3 dimensional forms are extruding on the back bar to create a point of difference

Large timber veneer screens have been added to part of the perimeter of Lounge/Stage area dividing them from the sports and main bars. This facilitates privacy for patrons in the Lounge wanting to have a quiet drink or simply to listen to live music.

An open plan Restaurant and Function area allows for the venue to cater for all occasions. Detailed coffered ceilings with feature lighting and large pendant lights give the space a sense of warmth and ambience.
