The iconic London House property on St Georges Terrace, Perth has opened its doors to an upmarket new restaurant and bar establishment, The George.

The George brings sleek, stylish new spaces to the trendy west end precinct of Perth’s business district, which is fast becoming the ‘it’ part of St Georges Terrace.

The new venue includes a restaurant, café, bar and lounge spaces, along with an alfresco area. London House’s conference room has also undergone a refurbishment and will be available for corporate use during office hours, as well as after-hours events
which will see catering provided exclusively by The George.

Owned and managed by Hawaiian, London House is well positioned to accommodate a premier venue such as The George, according to Hawaiian’s General Manager of Investments, Evan Briers.

“London House has an established, old-worldly feel to it, and The George compliments these aspects as well as bringing a new sense of vibrancy to the building,” said Mr Briers. “Incorporating a venue like The George at the property has allowed us to offer something really special to the Perth market,” he added.

Melbourne restaurateur John Ahern, best known for the Blvd, one of Melbourne’s most iconic waterfront restaurants on Melbourne’s Yarra River, and the Watermark Bar at Victoria Harbour, said he had a clear vision in mind when setting out to create The
George.

“I wanted The George to be a destination venue that caters for discerning restaurant goers, and also those that are looking for a stylish place to enjoy a drink
after work,” Mr Ahern stated. “With an ideal Terrace location in Perth’s CBD, we saw the potential of the London House space as soon as we stepped inside.”

Well known architect firm Kinetic Space worked alongside John Ahern and his business partner Steve Garcia, who credits to his name Melbourne venues Veludo, Terra Rossa, EQ Café and Bar and The World Bar, in realising the vision at London House.

Kinetic Space has more than 20 years’ experience in hospitality and interior architecture, and worked with Ahern to create both the Blvd and Watermark venues.

The George fit-out offers an intimate, stylish interior incorporating contemporary furnishings, such as high bar tables, cosy booth seating in the restaurant, a plush lounge area and an extensive marble-top bar.

Spectacular feature pieces include an impressive wrought-iron chandelier sourced from France that stretches over 1.5m wide, and a 2.5 tonne stone mural mounted on the wall depicting Roman Soldiers, especially created for The George by Italian stonecutters.

Also installed in The George is a champagne bar featuring a customised champagne rack in which to store champagne bottles via the traditional methods.

The end result of this extensive fit-out effectively compliments the existing surrounds as it remains in keeping with the established feel of the London House building.

In addition to the development of The George, and the refurbishment of London House’s conference room, a fully operational fitness centre has also been developed for the exclusive use of the property’s tenants.
