Murrumba Downs Tavern occupies approximately 1600 sqm on a site of approximately 6500 sqm. The venue consists of a public bar, bistro, function rooms, gaming room and the back of the house such as kitchen, toilets and other amenities. The client’s brief was to create an upmarket hotel without the accommodation component.
The building is stand alone set back from the main road. The exterior is lit softly with red LED light columns, which highlight the front façade making it impossible for cars to pass by without noticing.
There is a children’s playground placed next to the bistro, allowing parents to watch their children from inside. For the convenience of the patrons,100 car spaces are available in the exterior landscape area.
Energy saving planning has been included in the design, such as fully insulated walls and ceiling, cross-ventilation, solar impact etc.
The bistro and main bar are open-plan design. There are bi-fold doors that open up into the external terraces to create outdoor dining and drinking areas.
Luxurious high ceilings from 3 metres to 6 metres appear in the main bar, bistro and function rooms.
