Starwood approached CYD to create an environment within the public areas of the hotel that not only reflected the Sheraton Brand but importantly, the environment in which the property is located. The public areas included the Lobby, the River Lounge and the Communications Lounge. The Sheraton is located in the heart of Noosa, surrounded by nature, including the Noosa River, Noosa Beach, and the Noosa National Park.
CYD approached the design to the Sheraton as an interactive installation”. The interaction here is between spatial zones, light, colour and the elements. The desired aesthetic was to blend nature with understated elegance with a fresh, modern twist befitting a luxury beachside resort. The result, `style with substance’
The idea was to create a hotel where guests feel comfortable and at home. To achieve this, we mirrored the spill of natural light throughout the space, using neutral colours, warm timbers and modern furniture. The aesthetic key to unlocking the design for the Sheraton was the element of ‘nature’ and all the sensations that evokes.”
This is reflected in the use of natural finishes, pure and simple textures and shapes, and the use of landscaping throughout the space, creating a tranquil inviting forum in which hotel guests can interact.
