Just twelve months since Hawaii’s Outrigger Hotels & Resorts took over the management of Twin Towns Resort, the company commenced a significant makeover of the original Ocean Tower.

The Ocean Tower has received a $1.2 million refurbishment in all 116-rooms and lobby areas that mirror the quality of the newer 4.5 star Harbour Tower built in 2006. All hotel rooms in the Ocean Tower have been completely refurbished and include the addition of elegant new furnishings, bedding, artwork and fresh, contemporary colour schemes. State of the art appliances and electronics including large LCD flat screens are standard throughout all rooms, as is luxurious leather sofas and solid timber furniture.

Capping off the refurbishment is a striking new main lobby and portecochere area, which is shared by both
accommodation towers.

Signatures, the resort's new restaurant, has also undergone a major refurbishment following almost ten years of continual service.  The new-look Signatures now features light dining, fine wines, cocktails and ales in stunning, modern surrounds.

Visage Design were given a design brief which included a new bar/ layout, new finishes, new food servery display, new painting and new lighting treatments.

The design elements chosen creates a “new” Manhattan-style interior with the palettes in warm tones of browns, dark timber, and stark white walls to assist the contrast in exemplifying the timber tones.

After the initial survey of the venue it was decided that the bar should become a “meeting place” for both the patrons and house guests. Visage re-established the location of the bar as a main feature into the

restaurant entrance which creates a soft environment for both the chat bar and patrons waiting to be seated for the restaurant area.

The bar is a 1100mm high contemporary piece of furniture constructed from white stone and manufactured by CMC Stone Masons. Other elements would include LED forged glass panels from Celsius Glass in Melbourne, feature stand up forged panel with integrated bottle display.

The positioning of the bar enabled the column to blend into the structure. The finish matched the other columns which were designed to square up and line with staggered dark timber block work strips and feature lighting.

The existing bulkheads were replaced and are skinned with selected timber veneer to enhance the new warmth in the tones and have new lighting effects to them.

All the walls are painted Dulux Whisper White with complimentary trim inserts of Dulux Beige Royal (which is depicted in the carpet). The ceiling coffers are painted Haynes Chocolate Mousse which creates a subtle warmth to the room

The exterior water features are upgraded with new water spray effects and exciting new LED lighting supplied by Beacon Lighting. Fan lighting, creating colour/ dimension and movement in the room has also been added.

The furniture was supplied by BCI Furniture in Melbourne utilizing timber chairs and solid timber table tops stained in Wenge 9 matching the columns and other timber features.

The carpet was a Shanhua Axminster carpet from Fowles in brown tones with a chocolate brown border to assist in the angles of the room.
